Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard says he is more than happy at the prospect of being a regular at the heart of the Reds midfield, having featured on the right side for much of last season.
The 27-year-old was utilised by club and country on the right flank last term, with manager Rafa Benitez having preferred Xabi Alonso and Momo Sissoko in the Reds engine room.
However, after an impressive pre-season campaign, England schemer Gerrard appears to have secured a return to his favourite position.
He said: "I've played a lot of pre-season in the centre of midfield and I've really enjoyed it. The manager knows that's where I want to play.
"We've got a big squad with a lot of good players and a lot of competition for places.
"There's a lot of football and I know I'll get my chance in the middle, but that's where I enjoy playing the most and where I believe I have the most to offer for the team."
Benitez had earlier confirmed: "Normally he will play more games in the middle.
"He enjoys playing there and I think he will play a lot more games there this season."
