Broughton delighted with court ruling

Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton has spoken about the High Court ruling against Tom Hicks and George Gillett. The judge has ruled in favour of the sale of Liverpool Football Club, against the wishes of Hicks and Gillett who had attempted to block the sale, but Judge Justice Floyd has ruled against the American owners. "I'm delighted," said Broughton. "We came for justice and got justice. We'll have a board meeting this evening and proceed with the sale process. "We were confident all along. We believe we've done the right thing, but when you go to court you can never pre-judge the outcome."Speaking about Hicks and Gillett, Broughton added: "I'm disappointed that they've acted this way to try to breach the undertakings they gave me but up until then they supported the process." When asked about whether the club will now be sold to NESV or if Peter Lim's bid would be considered, Broughton refused to comment. "The board has to be reconstituted and resit this evening," he said, "It would be inappropriate to prejudge what the board is going to say. "I just want to thank the fans for all the support they've given through a very difficult time. We're almost there. The club's going to have a great future."
