BREAKING NEWS: West Ham complete signing of Joe Cole from Liverpool on free transfer

The Official Liverpool Football Club Twitter Account earlier confirmed that Liverpool Football Club have allowed Joe Cole to return to his boyhood club West Ham on a free transfer.

After struggling to make a major impact with the Reds, and a season-long loan at Lille, Joe Cole and Brendan Rodgers have put an end to his spell at Liverpool.

Liverpool Football Club have confirmed Joe Cole has joined West Ham United on a free transfer.

The midfielder leaves Anfield after a two-and-a-half-year spell with the Reds following his transfer from Chelsea in July 2010.

Cole made a total of 42 appearances for Liverpool, scoring five goals - the last of which came against his new employers during a 3-2 win over the Hammers at Upton Park in December
