Braga v Liverpool, Dynamo Kiev v Manchester City live

10 March 2011 22:16
Follow Sportsmail's coverage of the Europa League as Liverpool visit Braga for the first leg of their last 16 clash. Kenny Dalglish's men will be wary of the Portugese side who have already beaten Arsenal at home this season.[LNB]Following the Reds is Manchester City, who face a tricky tie at Dynamo Kiev. The hosts have Chelsea flop Andriy Shevchenko in their ranks who is enjoying a fine season late in his career. Email me your thoughts on the action at dan.ripley@dailymail.co.uk[LNB] Dynamo Kiev 2-0 Manchester City (8.05pm)Dynamo Kiev: Shovkovskiy, Danilo Silva,Khacheridi, Yussuf, Popov, Gusev, Vukojevic, Eremenko, Yarmolenko,Shevchenko (Ninkovic 88), Milevskiy.Subs: Koval, Betao, Garmash, Kravets,Leandro Almeida, Guilherme.[LNB]Goals: Shevchenko 25, Gusev 77.[LNB]Man City: Hart, Richards, Kompany,Lescott, Zabaleta, Toure Yaya, Barry, Kolarov (Wright-Phillips 82), Balotelli (Tevez 57), Dzeko, Silva.Subs: Taylor, Boateng, Vieira, De Jong, Boyata.[LNB]Referee: Florian Meyer (Germany)[LNB]22.05: No wins (well Spurs didn't need one) and one goal (which was a present from Barcelona) means it's been a pretty miserable week for British clubs in Europe.[LNB]Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City all suffered defeats but Rangers secured at least a promising draw at Eindhoven.[LNB]Just Tottenham can be happy with their week's work but there is still time to turn it around for Kenny Dalglish and Roberto Mancini.[LNB]That's all from me here but check back at the weekend for Sportsmail's coverage of the FA Cup. Thank you for following and good night.[LNB]22.02: Around Europe:[LNB]Franco Jara's second-half strike gives Benfica a 2-1 advantage to take to Paris St Germain in the second leg.[LNB]A goal from former Wigan midfielder Denny Landzaat, and another from De Jong gives Twente a healthy 3-0 lead to take to Zenit.[LNB]Finally Alex's strike helped Spartk Moscow to a 1-0 victory at Ajax.[LNB]21.59: City are in big trouble. The only thing in their favour is they have home advantage to try and claw back this two goal deficit.[LNB]But with no away goals, they are playing a dangerous game and someone will need to make a hero of themselves in the return leg at Eastlands.[LNB]Full-time: Dynamo Kiev 2-0 Manchester City[LNB]90+2min: Into injury time, not sure how much is added on but Hart makes another save after diving down low to hold Ninkovic's slightly weak shot.[LNB]89min: Shocking on pitch tactics from City! After winning a free-kick Lescott goes up ready for the long ball into the box...except it never comes and City go short before losing the ball.[LNB]Ninkovic leads a counter and puts through Gusev, who is completely unmarked thanks to the out of position Lescott.[LNB]Thankfully Hart is off his line to block the shot, that could have been the tie done and dusted.[LNB]88min: The hero Shevchenko is off and is replaced by Milos Ninkovic.[LNB]87min: Dangerous game now, Kiev are inviting the pressure but City are getting sloppy with the passing and the hosts really do like to break quickly.[LNB]There is still a goal in this game.[LNB]84min: Great run, wrong choice. Gusev manages to sprint through the City defence but just can't shake off Lescott.[LNB]In the box he takes a shot but it's to Hart's near post and the keeper easily saves.[LNB]Golden rule - shoot across goal, though I accept he was under pressure there.[LNB]82min: Shaun Wright-Phillips is getting ready to come on for City. He has been poor all season and if he wants to make an impact, now is the time to do it. He is on now as he replaces Kolarov.[LNB]Yussuf is booked after blocking off Dzeko and (I think) he will miss the next leg.[LNB]80min: Tevez has a hopeful effort from outside the box that Shovkovskiy comfortably takes.[LNB]This is a bad scoreline for City but if they can just get an away goal it could be a pivotal moment in this tie, even if it would end 2-1.[LNB] Mountain to climb: Gusev celebrates doubling Kiev's lead[LNB]77min: GOAL! DYNAMO KIEV 2-0 Manchester City[LNB]That is a predator's finish. Oleh Gusev is first to Kompany's loose header in the box and does the hard work in bringing the ball under control with his first touch. His second is brilliant as he doesn't give City time to get near him before flashing a strike beyond Hart.[LNB]74min: They are getting closer, a lovely passing move has Kiev chasing shadows, but Toure's final pass to Kolarov is flagged offside as the full back volleys narrowly wide.[LNB]71min: Kiev happy to play on the counter and they look dangerous every time they go forward. City much improved this half though and go close again, but Silva scuffs his shot wide eight yards out.[LNB]68min: Top save from Shovkovskiy. Joleon Lescott has a snap shot that I would expect from a striker 16 yards out, but the keeper does well to pounce to his right and hold the ball.[LNB]66min: Half-chance for Kiev, Gusev and Shevchenko link up well but Hart is quickly of his line to prevent any shot and claim the loose ball.[LNB]65min: Who would have though this by the way. Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester City - just an own-goal scored between them this week.[LNB]Wish I had stuck a sneaky tenner on that.[LNB]62min: Milevskiy keeps Hart honest with a close range shot which is comfortable enough for the keeper. Good even contest to this half.[LNB]59min Best move of the game from City. Dzeko, Pablo Zabaleta, Tevez, Silva and Barry all link up well before Yaya Toure's shot towards the bottom corner is well tipped behind by Shovkovskiy.[LNB]57min: Balotelli is off and he was quite clearly not up for it this half. Tevez finally gets a chance to run about a bit and get warmed up.[LNB]56min: Not too much happening this half. Tevez stripped down and ready to come on must be freezing standing on the touchline.[LNB]53min: Balotelli after a small run is quite late on Ayila Yussuf after losing the ball and is booked.[LNB]Carlos Tevez is warming up and one would think the Italian would rather be anywhere than a cold night in Kiev.[LNB]51min: Good effort from Kolarov as his right foot shot looks to be heading for the top corner until a defender heads it over.[LNB]Balotelli's corner though is easily cleared.[LNB]Tough gig: Balotelli (left) struggled to make an impact[LNB]49min: Ah, it appears Balotelli felt 'ill' before the start of the half and that caused  confusion over whether City were going to make a sub or not. We will have to keep an eye on that.[LNB]Shevchenko fires over again from the edge of the box but credit to City's defence, they forced him to rush that.[LNB]48min: I don't know what the delay was for but Mancini did not look happy as he sent David Platt to go and get him, he may even have an extra pair of tights here.[LNB]46min: Hang on City have started the second half with 10 men...wait here comes the missing man, Mario Balotelli (who else) walks out on to the pitch 15 seconds after the game gets underway again. That is astonishing.[LNB]Second-half: No bobble hat as Mancini walks out for the next period, heated half-time team talk?[LNB] No immediate changes from either side as Kiev get us back underway.[LNB]21.01: Elsewhere in Europe at half-time:[LNB]Peguy Luyindula has given Paris St Germain an away goal at Benfica, but Maxi Pereira's strike before the break leaves the score at 1-1.[LNB]Twente lead at home to Zenit through a Luuk de Jong strike and it's 0-0 in Holland between Ajax and Spartak Moscow.[LNB]20.58: One little tip for Mancini...change the strike force and how it works.[LNB]Balotelli can barely make any impact as he is heavily marked and Dzeko has not existed stuck on the flank.[LNB]Silva is struggling to link up with either and the only real threat has been Ricahrds down the right wing.[LNB]Changes are needed, maybe not personally yet but definitely tactically.[LNB]20.55: Just like Liverpool earlier, far from a disaster for City but they can't afford to let Kiev get another, and the way the game is going that is exactly what is going to happen.[LNB]Half-time: Dynamo Kiev 1-0 Manchester City[LNB]45+1min: Milevskiy fires wide 20 yards out and if City are lucky the half-time whistle should bail them out here.[LNB]45min: By contrast it's chaos in the City penalty box as they throw all sorts of bodies at Shevchenko to prevent him getting another shot away from the edge of the box.[LNB]Oleh Gusev manages to cut inside on the right but on his weaker left foot, can only fire wide of the near post.[LNB]42min: City are not getting dominated as such but can find no way past the Kiev defence who are smart to every attack they throw. Plenty of issues for Mancini to address at the break.[LNB]39min: I admire Shevchenko's honesty here, in the box he is clipped by Kompany but elects to stay on his feet as he stumbles along and wins a corner.[LNB]Moments later his first time strike from the edge of the box just clears the crossbar. it's like 1999 all over again, all we need is Sergei Rebrov to join the party.[LNB] Still got it: Shevchenko celebrates opening the scoring[LNB]37min: Silva has faded as this half has wore on and we have barely seen anything of Edin  Dzeko. City need a rethink here as Kiev start to dominate.[LNB]34min: Penalty shout for Kiev after Artem Milevskiy goes down following contact from Vincent Kompany. FIFA say it's a penalty, common sense man says it's not as he can so easily stay on his feet.[LNB]Thankfully referee Florian Meyer opts for the latter choice.[LNB]31min: City win a corner but after Kiev clear it, the hosts start a quick counter at one point it's four-on-four but the ball only succeeds in finding Hart after a poor choice of pass.[LNB]Mancini's sides are going to have to play this a little more smartly. [LNB]28min: Mancini does not look happy on the bench and since the goal City have just lost their way a bit.[LNB]They are struggling to get any sort of attacking play In Kiev's half.[LNB]25min: GOAL! DYNAMO KIEV 1-0 Manchester City[LNB]Really take one guess who it is. It's great work from Andriy Yarmolenko on the left who shows quick feet to create space for a cross, and at the near post Andriy Shevchenko beats Hart to the ball to fire the hosts in front.[LNB]21min: Roberto Mancini with a scarf and a bobble hat this evening, I haven't seen one of those in a long while.[LNB]On the pitch Kolarov's turn and shot on the edge of the box is hit well but is straight at 'the keeper'.[LNB]19min: City win a free-kick 25 yards out, but Aleksandar Kolarov's shot lacks power to trouble Shovkovskiy who I may refer to as 'the keeper' for much of the night.[LNB] Taking a tumble: Olexandr Shovkovskiy beats Micah Richards to David Silva's pass[LNB]18min: Mario Balotelli is struggling to get into this. Every time he gets the ball he hardly gets a second to do anything with it, from Kiev's point of view they are doing a good job on the Italian so far.[LNB]15min: Not too much goal mouth action to speak of. City are trying to press forward but Kiev's midfield is holding quite deep.[LNB]Silva though is proving to be a little menace so far.[LNB]12min: Not seem much of Kiev so far, but you can see City are up for this.[LNB]It's bizarre it's taken them until March to be tested in Europe but they remain the better side.[LNB]10min: Brilliant play from David Silva, his through ball is just about perfect for Richards but a brave on-rushing Olexandr Shovkovskiy just beats him to the ball in the area.[LNB]7min: Little round up from the early games. Fredy Guarin's strike earned Porto a 1-0 win at CSKA Moscow.[LNB]While two second-half Nilmar goals either side of a Gonzalo Castro strike earned Villarreal a 3-2 win at Bayer Leverkusen.[LNB] Handy player: Artem Milevskiy of Dynamo Kiev fends off Manchester City's Micah Richards[LNB]6min: Ricahrds though does have gloves on, no I don't understand either. City keen to pass it about in these cold conditions and are the better side at the moment, Kiev struggling to get their passing going.[LNB]3min: And to let you know it is really cold in Kiev. Minus five is the temperature and as far as City are concerned that is a bad time to ban a snood.[LNB]Gareth Barry, Joe Hart and Micah Richards have braved it with short sleeved shirts though. Made in England.[LNB]Good even start to the game, both sides showing good attacking intent.[LNB]Kick-off: And we are underway in Kiev.[LNB]20.02: As the teams make their way out here is the team news:[LNB]Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini makes two changes to his side for this Europa League last 16 first leg match against Dynamo Kiev tonight.[LNB]Edin Dzeko partners Mario Balotelli up front with Carlos Tevez on the bench.[LNB]The only other change to the side that beat Wigan sees Aleksandar Kolarov replace Patrick Vieira.[LNB]Dzeko's inclusion gave the Bosnian a chance to come face to face again with his idol former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko, who is in the Dynamo side.[LNB]20.00: And with just a few minutes to kick-off we turn our attention towards Manchester City and a chilly, chilly night in Kiev.[LNB] 19.58: And that is not a too bad result for Rangers either.[LNB]No away goal is a slight concern but in a noisy atmosphere at Ibrox they have a great chance of progressing ahead of the Dutch side.[LNB]19.56: Liverpool with the disadvantage as they host Braga in the second leg at Anfield.[LNB]It's not a total disaster though and Dalglish can be confident that his side can still progress to the quarter-finals.[LNB]I can't see the Kop standing for much of Braga's 'platoon' antics either.[LNB]Braga 1-0 Liverpool (6pm) FTBraga: Artur Moraes, Miguel Garcia,Kaka, Rodriguez, Silvio, Leandro Salino, Hugo Viana, Alan, Mossoro Paulao 69),Paulo Cesar (Helder Barbosa 90+4), Lima (Meyong 78).Subs: Cristiano, Dani, Peterson, Anibal.[LNB]Goals: Alan 18 (Pen).[LNB]Liverpool: Reina, Carragher, Skrtel,Kyrgiakos, Johnson, Poulsen (Carroll 57), Lucas, Spearing, Meireles, Cole, Kuyt.Subs: Gulacsi, Pacheco, Maxi, Wilson, Ngog, Flanagan.[LNB]Referee: Serge Gumienny (Belgium) [LNB]Full-time: Braga 1-0 Liverpool[LNB]90+6min: In desperation to get a goal, Liverpool have about four players offside for a ball over the top and that is surely that.[LNB]Full-time: PSV 0-0 Rangers[LNB]90+4min: Time wasting sub from Braga as Helder Barbosa replaces Paulo Cesar.[LNB]90+2min: That is a red card...or at least it should be! Braga really can't cope with Carroll in the air and 25-yards-out Kaka whacks an elbow straight into Carroll's face.[LNB]Blatant intent, and even if he wasn't already booked he be should get a straight red for that. A slight delay as Carroll receives treatment.[LNB]90+1min: Four minutes added on, what will it be Kenny, stick or twist?[LNB]88min: One of the most frustrating things in football, Meireles gives it a pointless tap and Glen Johnson's shot is charged down as it cannons away from danger. Just hit it first time![LNB]87min: Carroll wins a free-kick 25 yards out after Paulao decides the best way to stop him winning a header is to bring him down.[LNB]85min: That Salino has quite a shot on him. With a difficult bouncing ball on the edge of the box this time, he strikes with his right foot this time and it just clears the crossbar.[LNB]83min: The sting has gone out of Liverpool's attack and although Braga made that change, it does seem that both managers would deal at 1-0 now.[LNB]80min: Well I say they are going for it. They are a little bit defensive here and are playing a lot more long balls than they were earlier.[LNB]Meanwhile Cole brings down Kaka who judging by the way he reacts has broken his leg...Nope wait, he is back up again. No wonder Cole is frustrated after that.[LNB]78min: Interesting from Braga, they are going for this. The attacking Albert Meyong is on for Lima.[LNB]75min: Don't worry Rangers fans, I haven't forgotten about your side! Not many shots on target in Eindhoven where it remains PSV 0-0 Rangers.[LNB]73min: And after making that sub the hosts are having their brightest spell of the second-half. Hugo Viana's corner looks to be looping over the top of Reina until the keeper just tips it behind.[LNB]72min: Liverpool of course are wise to seek an away goal but have to be aware of that Brag counter.[LNB]A one goal deficit to chase at Anfield is possible, two goals and they face an uphill task.[LNB]69min: Change for Braga, Paulao replaces Mossoro who won the spot kick that separates the two sides.[LNB] Head boy: Andy Carroll made a strong impact after coming off the bench[LNB]67min: Hold that, Raul Meireles leads a counter and Dirk Kuyt with a brilliant turn and shot from 18 yards forces the keeper to parry over, I don't think it was going in but Moraes was not to know that.[LNB]66min: Big improvements from Liverpool Moraes still isn't being tested.[LNB]63min: Liverpool are all over Braga now, Carroll's deflected shot from the edge of the box just falls wide and the hosts just can't deal with him.[LNB]60min: Quick note that Carroll is wearing No 29 tonight. The reason he does not have his usual No 9 is because UEFA say only one player can have a certain shirt number during a campaign.[LNB]Fernando Torres of course the culprit there.[LNB]59min: Straight away he makes an impact! Glen Johnson pings a long ball to Carroll, and his flick on to Kuyt is just cut out before the Dutchman can get a volley in.[LNB]Seconds later he does it again but Kuyt is a yard short as he loses the race for the loose ball with Moraes.[LNB]57min: Off comes the disappointing Poulsen and on comes Carroll. Not too sure Braga will fancy this aerial challenge.[LNB]55min: Andy Carroll is getting prepared to come on, Liverpool need a change as not much in their game is breaking down Braga.[LNB]Kuyt is flagged offside for the umpteenth time.[LNB]52min: Team line-ups from Kiev:[LNB]Dynamo Kiev v Man CityDynamo Kiev: Shovkovskiy, Danilo Silva, Khacheridi, Yussuf, Popov, Gusev, Vukojevic, Eremenko, Yarmolenko, Shevchenko, Milevskiy. Subs: Koval, Betao, Garmash, Kravets, Ninkovic, Leandro Almeida, Guilherme.Man City: Hart, Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Zabaleta, Toure Yaya, Barry, Kolarov, Balotelli, Dzeko, Silva. Subs: Taylor, Wright-Phillips, Boateng, Vieira, Tevez, De Jong, Boyata.Referee: Florian Meyer (Germany)[LNB] Sliding in: Raul Meireles (right) tackles Paulo Cesar[LNB]51min: Barely a minute is your answer, Liverpool have to avoid this stop/start play if they can.[LNB]50min: This is ridiculous. Paulo Cesar goes down under the slightest touch from Kyrgiakos and even his manager isn't buying that one.[LNB]Neither does the ref who seems to lose patience when asking him to leave the pitch for treatment.[LNB]He limps off but how long before he is back at full speed?[LNB]48min: Decent start from Liverpool, they win a free-kick and then a corner but set-pieces have not been great so far and Braga once again clear.[LNB]Second-half: No changes as Liverpool restart proceedings.[LNB]18.56: A little round up elsewhere at half-time, it's goalless in Russia between CSKA Moscow and Porto.[LNB]While in Germany, Villarreal's Giuseppe Rossi cancelled out Michal Kadlec's earlier strike for Bayer Leverkusen.[LNB]18.53: It's half-time in Eindhoven as well where it's PSV 0-0 Rangers.[LNB]Not a bad half from the Scottish side but they could do with an away goal in the bank.[LNB]18.50: And you have to say that is deserved. Braga much the more threatening and Dalglish needs a new plan if he wants to at least level the tie.[LNB]Half-time: Braga 1-0 Liverpool[LNB]45+2min: Liverpool ending the stronger, they have a corner but with every player back, Braga clear Meireles' cross.[LNB]44min: One thing I will say about Braga is every single challenge Liverpool make, they go down in absolute 'agony'.[LNB]I remember Arsenal having the same problem but on top of that it stops the game flowing and Liverpool need a faster tempo than this.[LNB]41min: Liverpool on the rocks here and I don't mean the ones behind the goal they are shooting at.[LNB]Braga look the much sharper and Dalglish will be counting the seconds to half-time, they have been second-best everywhere.[LNB]Heads up: Spearing wins a header ahead of Silvio[LNB]38min: Goodness me Pepe Reina was never going to stop that! Liverpool just manage to scramble away a cleverly worked free-kick from Braga but only as far as Silvio 25 yards out.[LNB]He hits a first time volley that crashes off the crossbar that Reina was never going to save, very unlucky.[LNB]36min: Spearing blocks the eventual shot for a corner from which Liverpool survive, Braga though looking more savvy in attack.[LNB]35min: And not give away free-kicks like that. Poulsen clips Leandro Salino 25 yards out and although it is a foul, the midfielder does make a meal of it...Poulsen is even booked for his troubles.[LNB]32min: The hosts are defending well though, Artur Moraes has not had a save to make and Liverpool just need to up the tempo.[LNB]29min: Nice pattern to the play here, Liverpool searching for openings but every time they lose the ball Braga pile forward on the counter.[LNB]26min: Big call from referee Serge Gumienny and I think he gets this just about right.[LNB]Joe Cole shows a brilliant turn to escape a defender but before he can run through on goal is wiped out by Kaka (not that one).[LNB]He wasn't quite the last man but does get booked. From 35 yards, Raul Meireles powers his shot into the wall, disappointing.[LNB]24min: Sportsmail's Des Kelly on twitter:[LNB]If you were a Brazilian footballer and could choose any nickname you fancied, would you choose 'Alan'?! Good penalty though.[LNB]23min: Braga strangely are happy to let Liverpool have the ball now, the visitors were not exactly comfortable before the goal and you still feel the hosts need at least a two goal advantage to take to Anfield.[LNB]20min: No panic yet but maybe we will have more of a game now, Raul Meireles leads a quick response but after winning a corner Braga clear.[LNB] Spot on: Reina guessed the right way but Alan's penalty was perfect[LNB]18min: GOAL! BRAGA 1-0 Liverpool[LNB]No doubt about this, Sotirios Kyrgiakos chops down Mossoro in the box, and from the penalty spot, Alan places it right into the bottom corner. Top penalty but unsure about the dancing celebration.[LNB]17min: PENALTY (Braga)[LNB]13min: It's Liverpool's turn to pass it about and just see what their opponents are made of.[LNB]This sparring session we often see so early in games is going on a bit too long for my liking.[LNB]11min: Poulsen give away a free-kick 35 yards out but the ball fired in is cleared by the Liverpool defence, and that is about as close we have come to a chance.[LNB]8min: Braga pass it about as Liverpool all sit camped in their own half refusing to close down beyond the halfway line.[LNB]Only Kuyt is in the Braga half, or for that matter anywhere near it.[LNB]5min: Bright start from the hosts who are not giving Liverpool any time on the ball. No keeper has had a shot to face as yet.[LNB]2min: Worth noting Carragher has broken a British record this evening with most appearances, this being his 138th.[LNB] Manchester United's Ryan Giggs was the previous record holder so he may get an opportunity to get that back.[LNB]Kick-off: Braga get us underway kicking towards the end where is more trees than rocks.[LNB] First to it: Liverpool's Dirk Kuyt beats Braga's Alberto Rodriguez to the ball[LNB]17.57: Teams are out, I know Liverpool are playing a Portugse side but there are seven Brazilians in the hosts starting line-up.[LNB]17.54: Kenny seems on guard this evening, speaking of having 'plenty of respect' for Braga.[LNB]Just one away goal in their last four outings, is it really going to be a 'backs to the wall' job?[LNB]17.51: Lovely sunny evening in Portugal too, hopefully Spearing can show us what he can do from his starting role.[LNB]Can't say I have seen much of him so this is a good opportunity to show Europe what he is made of.[LNB]17.48: Liverpool will be highly fancied to beat Braga at home but they will have to avoid giving the Portugese side a big advantage this evening.[LNB]Braga were hammered 6-0 at Arsenal but managed to convincingly beat the Gunners 2-0 in the return fixture in this season's Champions League. The Reds have been warned.[LNB]17.45: Don't forget to stick around after the Liverpool game to follow coverage of Manchester City's trip to Dynamo Kiev. It takes a while, but this Europa League competition can really take off once it gets going.[LNB]17.42: Rangers spring a surprise in their Europa League tie against PSV Eindhoven by naming Neil Alexander in the starting line-up.[LNB]First choice goalkeeper Allan McGregor is named on the bench for the first leg of the last 16 clash in Holland.[LNB]El-Hadji Diouf looks set to take on the lone striker role he performed in the last round against Sporting Lisbon.[LNB]The Scottish champions are also boosted by the return of Kyle Lafferty after he recovered from tonsillitis.[LNB]There is also a start for young midfielder Kyle Hutton, who yesterday signed a new deal with Rangers.[LNB] Rocky opposition: The unique surroundings where Liverpool will take on Braga[LNB]17.39: Not just Liverpool kicking off at 6pm of course. Rangers also do battle in the Europa League after their stunning late show at Sporting Lisbon in the last round, here is how they start:[LNB]PSV v RangersPSV: Isaksson, Manolev, Marcelo, Bouma, Pieters, Hutchinson, Engelaar, Dzsudzsak, Toivonen, Berg, Lens. Subs: Cassio, Rodriguez, Vukovic, Koevermans, Wuytens, Bakkal, Zeefuik.Rangers: Alexander, Foster, Weir, Bartley, Bougherra, Whittaker, Lafferty, Edu, Davis, Hutton, Diouf. Subs: McGregor, Fleck, Healy, Weiss, Wylde, Cole, Hemmings.Referee: Martin Hansson (Sweden)[LNB]17.36: Liverpool's record signing Andy Carroll takes his place on the bench ahead of his expected Europa League debut for the Reds in the first leg of their last 16 tie in Braga.[LNB]The 22-year-old striker made his first appearance for the club since his ?35million January transfer from Newcastle as a substitute in Sunday's 3-1 win over Manchester United.[LNB]Manager Kenny Dalglish makes four changes from that side, three of which were enforced with captain Steven Gerrard left at home for assessment on a groin problem, Fabio Aurelio injured and Luis Suarez ineligible.[LNB]Maxi Rodriguez drops to the bench as Joe Cole, Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Jay Spearing and Christian Poulsen all come into the starting line-up.[LNB]Braga, who have beaten Celtic and Arsenal at home this season, include former Newcastle midfielder Hugo Viana.[LNB]17.33: The full line-ups from Braga, which is a stunning stadium by the way:[LNB]Braga v LiverpoolBraga: Artur Moraes, Miguel Garcia, Kaka, Rodriguez, Silvio, Leandro Salino, Hugo Viana, Alan, Mossoro, Paulo Cesar, Lima. Subs: Cristiano, Paulao, Helder Barbosa, Meyong, Dani, Peterson, Anibal.Liverpool: Reina, Carragher, Skrtel, Kyrgiakos, Johnson, Poulsen, Lucas, Spearing, Meireles, Cole, Kuyt. Subs: Gulacsi, Pacheco, Maxi, Wilson, Ngog, Carroll, Flanagan.Referee: Serge Gumienny (Belgium)[LNB]17.30: Think all this week's action happened in the Champions League? Think again, we may have seen the brilliance of Barcelona and the toughness of Tottenham but we are not quite done yet.[LNB]King Kenny's Liverpool take the European spotlight when they visit Braga in the Europa League, and with the form the visitors are they have one eye on a Euro final in Dublin.[LNB]Here is Liverpool's starting XI:[LNB]Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Kyrgiakos, Skrtel, Spearing, Poulsen, Meireles, Lucas, Cole, Kuyt.[LNB] Port of call: Liverpool players train in Braga ahead of their last 16 Europa League tie[LNB]  Simply Reds: Dalglish insists Europa League quest is all about Liverpool, not personal glory Carroll set for Euro bow as Dalglish steps up striker's search for fitness Man City hotshot Dzeko: I won't be a flop like my hero ShevchenkoMancini seeking silverware as City boss hails the Europa LeagueAll the latest Liverpool news, features and opinionAll the latest Manchester City news, features and opinionAll the latest Rangers news, features and opinion[LNB]  Explore more:People: Kenny Dalglish, Martin Hansson, Andy Carroll, Christian Poulsen, Maxi Rodriguez, Fabio Aurelio, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Kyle Lafferty, Ryan Giggs, Pepe Reina, Glen Johnson, Dirk Kuyt, Fernando Torres, Patrick Vieira, Mario Balotelli, Roberto Mancini, Andriy Shevchenko, Carlos Tevez, David Silva, Gareth Barry, Joe Hart, Vincent Kompany, David Platt, Joleon Lescott, Shaun Wright-Phillips Places: Liverpool, Barcelona, Dublin, Lisbon, Newcastle, Moscow, Belgium, The Netherlands, Portugal, Germany, Russia, United Kingdom, Europe
