Boro v Liverpool preview

Middlesbrough are desperate to end their horrendous run of form on Saturday, but that looks a daunting task as Liverpool travel to Teesside.[LNB] Boro are on a desperate run of form in the league after going 14 league games without a win, indeed it has been more than eight hours since they last scored.[LNB]Gareth Southgate's men booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals with a midweek win over West Ham United and they will hope that can spur them onto victory over Liverpool.[LNB]Whilst Boro were beating West Ham, Liverpool were also on cup duty as they travelled to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League and they came away with a wonderful 1-0 win.[LNB]And now back in England they will look to narrow the gap on leaders Manchester United - who are playing in Sunday's Carling Cup final.[LNB]Boro can boast a more than reasonable record against Liverpool and Benitez, who is yet to see his team win on the banks of the Tees.[LNB]Liverpool's last win on Teesside was in 2002, although in the six games since four have ended in a draw.[LNB]Although Liverpool have found Boro hard to beat - the Teessiders have not beaten them since 2004.[LNB]Team newsHaving made changes against West Ham, Southgate looks set to named an unchanged side.[LNB]That means the likes of Matthew Bates, Julio Arca, Tuncay Sanli and Jeremie Aliadiere should retain their places after impressive displays.[LNB]Marlon King is set to be involved in the squad after missing the club's last three games because of either being cup-tied or ineligible.[LNB]Chris Riggott, Didier Digard and Andrew Taylor remain sidelined.[LNB]For Liverpool they will be without Fernando Torres after he picked up an ankle injury in Madrid.[LNB]Captain Steven Gerrard started the match in midweek on the bench, but he could very well be drafted in as a direct replacement for the Spaniard.[LNB]Daniel Agger is also unlikely to make the match as he continues to be troubled by his back injury.
