Gemma Bonner's late header salvaged a point against Arsenal Ladies as Liverpool Ladies almost let a 3-1 lead turn into a 4-3 defeat.

Bonner's 84th-minute equaliser scrambled a 4-4 draw for the visitors, who sit top of the Women's Super League 1 table but can now be toppled if rivals win games in hand.

Alex Greenwood, Natasha Harding and Caroline Weir found the net to put Liverpool in control at 3-1, with Chloe Kelly having registered for the hosts.

But then Danielle Carter struck twice in six minutes to turn the tie on its head, leaving the scores locked at 3-3 on the hour.

And when Jordan Nobbs fired Arsenal's fourth goal, the home side thought they were heading for a valiant turnaround victory.

Bonner's header six minutes from time sunk Arsenal's hopes of the win however, to cap a breathless second-half.
