Black Cats hope to end miserable run with Anfield goal against Liverpool FC

GOALKEEPER Simon Mignolet is confident Sunderland can end their miserable run at Anfield as they attempt to pile the pressure on Liverpool.[LNB]The Black Cats head for Anfield today having failed even to score there in a decade with just two draws to show for their past seven visits.[LNB]Not since September 2000, when Michael Owen cancelled out Kevin Phillips' early strike, have the Wearsiders found the back of the net on the red half of Merseyside, and that is a situation they are keen to change as they attempt to improve their dreadful form on the road.[LNB]Steve Bruce's men won only twice on their travels last season and are yet to register this, but with the Reds having endured a difficult start to the new campaign - they were dumped out of the Carling Cup by League Two Northampton in midweek - they will hope their time has come.[LNB] Mignolet said: 'Let's hope we can change that, let's hope we can get some points out of it.[LNB]'Ten years is a long time, so it is maybe time to change something.'[LNB]Sunderland will head across the Pennines still licking their own wounds after also slipping out of the Carling Cup at the hands of West Ham, although buoyed by their battling Barclays Premier League draw with Arsenal last weekend.[LNB]Mignolet turned in another fine individual display against the Gunners - indeed, had it not been for him on Tuesday evening, his side would have lost to the Hammers more comprehensively - as he continued his rich vein of form.[LNB]The 22-year-old Belgian arrived from St Truiden during the summer as understudy to Craig Gordon, but the Scotland international's continuing injury problems have given him a chance he has taken with both hands.[LNB]He said: 'You come here and you don't expect to play, but I have already played against Manchester City and Arsenal now, and now we are going to Anfield to play against Liverpool.[LNB]'Yes, I am happy to do that, but every single game is a game where you can win three points or lose three points, so we have to go there and try to do the best we can, and then we will see what we get out of it.'
