The Belgian international striker Christian Benteke has been linked with moves away from Villa Park in the past and the player who has scored 12 goals from his past 11 games is in demand again and Aston Villa will have their will to keep the player tested.

A report in the Metro states that Liverpool are ready to make a £30million bid to persuade Aston Villa to sell the 24-year-old in the coming weeks. Claims over the weekend suggested that the club will resist any attempt to get them to sell the player but it seems that Benteke himself is willing to agitate for a move.

The Metro cite the Sun who have reported that the player who has been at Villa since 2012 is willing to force a move to Anfield where he is expected to earn £100,000-per-week. Liverpool could face competition for the player's signature with Chelsea and Arsenal both understood to be keeping an eye on developments.

Christian Benteke launched his senior career at Genk in 2007 where he finished his youth development. A move to Standard Liege and a subsequent move back to Genk where he scored 19 goals in 37 league appearances caught the eye of the Premier League club.

Benteke has scored 49 goals in 99 appearances for Villa.
