Benitez hails lethal Torres
20 Sep 2009 - 10:54:18
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez believes Fernando Torres will go on to become one of the best strikers in the history of the Premier League following his match-winning display against West Ham.
The Spain striker scored twice as the Reds won 3-2 at Upton Park on Saturday evening.
"If he continues to play like that, he can be one of the best," said Benitez.
"When you talk about the Premier League you talk about a lot of players with quality so it is not easy to pick just one, but he is among the best."
Torres has now netted five goals in six league appearances this season and Benitez believes that a return to full-fitness will bring about a further improvement.
He added: "He is a very good player and it is easy to see his qualities. If he is keen to learn, he will improve.
"He is now fit and we are working hard with him to prevent injuries. Hopefully he won't be injured and he can score a lot of goals for us but we have different options.
"We were in control of the game and the reaction of the team was very positive."
