Liverpool's star striker Fernando Torres is unlikely to play again this year, having suffered yet another hamstring problem in the recent Champions League clash with Marseille.
The Reds had hoped to see the 24-year-old Spain international back in action within a couple of weeks, but boss Rafa Benitez may have to wait a little longer.
He told the Daily Echo: "We first said two to three weeks, but we do not want to put a time on it now. He will only come back when he is ready and we are satisfied.
"We will not rush him back. We want to resolve this problem once and for all and we will make sure we do that.
"We will check everything to ensure that he doesn't suffer this problem again."
Torres, who has scored 38 goals in 62 appearances for the Anfield club, added: "The injury is a bit worrying because it has happened to me before.
"Now the only thing to do is to get on with the rehabilitation and make sure that I come back when I am ready and not too soon."
