Benitez confirms double blow
12 Nov 2009 - 15:47:01
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has confirmed that both Yossi Benayoun and Albert Riera are facing several weeks out of action due to muscle problems.
Benitez's Reds squad has been hit by injuries to several key players in recent weeks, with both Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres troubled by groin problems and Glen Johnson sidelined by a hamstring strain.
Benitez told the club's official website: "Both Yossi Benayoun and Albert Riera have muscle problems and will be out for three to four weeks.
"We will have to wait and see how they progress but hopefully in three weeks they could be available.
"We are disappointed because there are too many things at the moment that we can't change. Both players are wingers as well and for them to be out at the same time is bad news for us.
"Sometimes a break comes at a bad time because you don't like to see your players flying all over the world, but this time it gives us a chance to get some players back."
