Benitez 'really happy' at Anfield
29 Jan 2010 - 15:24:51
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez claims he is "really happy" at Anfield and refusing to listen to continuing speculation linking him with a move to Juventus.
Benitez's future on Merseyside has the subject of much debate in recent weeks following the Reds' disappointing form this season.
He was linked with the Juventus job before the Italian club decided to part company with their under-pressure coach Ciro Ferrara on Friday.
Ferrara was axed after a run of five defeats in six Serie A games was followed by their exit from the Coppa Italia at the hands of Internazionale.
The Italian club have named Alberto Zaccheroni as their interim coach until the end of the season.
But despite admitting that he is proud to be linked with a job at a club like Juve, the Spaniard claims he is happy at Anfield and focused on managing the Anfield club.
"I am not here to talk about speculation because people talk too much," said Benitez.
"I am focused on preparing my team for the game against Bolton (on Saturday).
"I know they (Juventus) were interested - that is part of the game now in football - but I am not ready to talk too much because I don't want to lose my focus.
"When you are a manager and you have clubs asking you have to be proud because they are a top side in Europe, but I am really happy here and want to do my job as best I can."
