Benitez keeping straight face after Parry announces his departure from Liverpool

Rafa Benitez may have won the Anfield boardroom battle - but he is in no mood to admit it.[LNB]The Liverpool manager will be popping the champagne corks behind closed doors after the announcement this morning that his Anfield nemesis, chief executive Rick Parry, is to leave the club at the end of the season.[LNB] There's the door: Rafa Benitez won't be too disappointed to see the back of chief executive Rick Parry.[LNB]And somebody should have told Benitez the Oscars were on last week as he put on a world-beating performance in pretending he had nothing to do with Parry's exit during his weekly media briefing.[LNB]Over the last 18 months, Liverpool has been split into two very different and increasingly hostile camps, with co-owner Tom Hicks and Benitez on one side going head-to-head with fellow owner George Gillett and Parry on the other.[LNB]But the Spaniard insisted: 'There are no winners and losers in this.'[LNB] Boost for Benitez as Liverpool chief Rick Parry agrees to walk away from Anfield[LNB]Former Chelsea boss Mourinho on the Anfield radar if Benitez leaves Liverpool[LNB]Reds boss Rafa returns to Premier League race without injured Torres[LNB]LIVERPOOL FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE NET[LNB][LNB]Benitez has been fuming about the power Parry has wielded over contract deals while Hicks has also been highly critical of his 11-year tenure, believing he has not delivered the necessary financial success off the pitch.[LNB]But when probed about the subject, Benitez went into diplomacy overdrive, claiming he had no part to play in the latest Anfield off-field saga.[LNB] Nothing to do with me: Benitez insists that Parry's departure is a matter between the owners and the chief executive.[LNB] He said: 'I think it is a decision between the owners and Rick Parry. We have to work together until the end of the season.[LNB]'He will stay until the end of the season and after this I will wish him all the best. It is a decision between them. I just concentrate on the football.[LNB]'My personal relationship with him is not bad, we want to work together and to win.'[LNB]And Benitez was equally as cagey when discussing his new contract deal - a continuing drama that is beginning to test the patience of even the most loyal Kopites.[LNB]He has refused to sign everything placed in front of him for the last six months but hopes the end is in sight and he can consider signing a new deal soon.[LNB]He said: 'In terms of my contract, we will have new contacts maybe this week. My advisers and my people will go back to the owners and see if we can progress.'[LNB] Boost for Benitez as Liverpool chief Rick Parry agrees to walk away from Anfield[LNB]Former Chelsea boss Mourinho on the Anfield radar if Benitez leaves Liverpool[LNB]Reds boss Rafa returns to Premier League race without injured Torres[LNB]LIVERPOOL FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE NET[LNB][LNB][LNB] [LNB]
