Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has urged his side to approach their crunch meetings with Real Madrid and Manchester United with confidence.[LNB] The Reds welcome Primera Liga title holders Real to Anfield on Tuesday for the second leg of their last-16 UEFA Champions League tie before travelling to North-West rivals United on Saturday lunchtime, live on Sky Sports 1 and HD1.[LNB]With the pair of crucial games coming in the space of five days, it has been tagged as a crucial period in Liverpool's season as hopes of Champions League success hang in the balance and faint Premier League title hopes could be reignited.[LNB]And ahead of the meeting with Real, where Liverpool hold a one-goal lead from the first leg, Benitez is in no doubt regarding the significance of the fixtures and hopes progression in Europe will act as the perfect platform ahead of the weekend trip to Old Trafford. [LNB]"Tomorrow will be a very important game and can be a boost for us for the next game," Benitez told Sky Sports News on Monday.[LNB]"It is two different competitions, but against two very strong teams so we have to approach the games with confidence."[LNB]DifficultBenitez also believes that victory over United would put Liverpool back in the title race, but admits defeat would prove costly.[LNB]"If we can beat United we will still be in the title race. If we cannot, it will be very, very difficult," he added.[LNB]The Spaniard is well aware of the need to maintain composure in the match with Real and is eager for the support of the Anfield faithful.[LNB]"But, whatever happens, I will remain calm. My job is to analyse the game and to give the players ideas and solutions - my thoughts," he continued.[LNB]"If I am nervous or too excited, I will not be calm or control my thoughts, so I think that is the key.[LNB]"The fans can again be a great help. The noise they make on big European nights is vital, they are our number 12."[LNB]
