Benitez - Agger is important

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez believes that Daniel Agger is still an integral part of the Anfield set-up. Agger has been linked with a possible move to European giants AC Milan, as well as previously being on the Real Madrid radar. But his current manager insists that the Denmark international's return from injury will be a major boost to Liverpool's title challenge. "It is always a boost when you have good players coming back into the squad after injury, especially at this time of year because it is the most important part of the season," Benitez told the Liverpool Echo. "If they are fit they can help the team with the quality they have. "Agger showed when he came on against Aston Villa that he is no longer injured and he also showed that he can play really well with the ball, bringing it out from the back. "So it will be good for us to have him available again, particularly as we have been without him on several occasions. "Hopefully now he will be really fresh and ready to play his part because everyone knows that he is an important player for us." The 24-year-old defender has said that he will not rush a decision on his future at Anfield, stating that he would be happy to stay with the Reds. "I have never tried to hide the fact that I'd like to be at the club and I feel good enough to play for the team," Agger said. "I have plenty of time because my contract won't expire until next summer and it would be stupid to rush anything."
