Beckham linked with Madrid return as Calderon hints at Ronaldo swoop

Real Madrid are set to launch a bid to re-sign David Beckham, it has been claimed.[LNB]The La Liga giants are set for a summer of upheaval with Florentino Perez - the man who first took Beckham to Spain - set to regain his position as president of Real.[LNB]Hola: Florentino Perez welcomes Beckham to Real Madrid in July 2003[LNB]Claims predictably resurfaced that they will finally sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United[LNB]in the summer.[LNB]More surprising are reports in The Sun that Perez will try to bring Beckham back to the Bernabeu after the England winger's loan deal at AC Milan expires at the end of the season.[LNB]The 33-year-old is set to return to the Los Angeles Galaxy and is unlikely to be a priority for the soon-to-be-toppled Spanish champions.[LNB]Sources indicate that Perez is determined to land at least one 'Galactico' from a short list of Ronaldo, AC Milan's Kaka, Barcelona's Lionel Messi, Liverpool[LNB]'s Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres, Valencia's David Villa and David Silva. He is also thought to be an admirer of Anfield midfielder Xabi Alonso.[LNB]Ousted president Ramon Calderon, who led the botched attempt to sign Ronaldo last summer, has defended his stewardship of the club and suggested Madrid would finally land the Portugal star at the end of the season.[LNB] Heading for the exit? Cristiano Ronaldo (right) has again been linked with Real Madrid[LNB]Calderon did not mention the World Player of the Year by name, but said: 'I believe that my work at Real Madrid was good.
