Barcelona gearing up for Liverpool raid

Barcelona’s defence has come under fire this season after leaking in a surprising amount of goals. Gaps in the back-line are becoming more frequent due to the likes of Carles Puyol and Eric Abidal.

Both players are ageing and spend too much time in the physio room. Javier Mascherano continues to be deployed as a makeshift centre-back, but has struggled to establish himself in that role. He just doesn't pose any aerial threat, and he hasn't the speed to keep up with the pacey La Liga strikers.

Reports say that Mascherano has recommended his former Liverpool team mate Daniel Agger.

Agger would be a great signing for the Catalan’s. He’s strong, tall and quick on his feet.

Although, Liverpool seem to be on the up. Brendan Rodgers has brought in the likes of Coutinho and Sturridge, which has noticeably changed the speed and intensity at which The Reds now play. The squad is starting gel so I'm sure we will see a different Liverpool next season.

But the temptation of Barcelona’s climate and regular Champions League football could force the big Dane out of Merseyside.
