Balotelli, Fazio and Co - Are these the worst signings of the season so far?

Every season there are signings which don’t work out for one reason or another and this season has been no different and I’m going to take a look at the worst signings this season so far.

1- Mario Balotelli

The erratic Italian striker has as of yet to hit it off at all at Anfield with the £16M man only scoring 2 goals in his 14 appearances so far and none of them have come in the Premier League. He was brought to replace Luis Suarez and help Daniel Sturridge but with Sturridge being injured for a while the burden has been put on him to score and sadly he has nowhere near come near to the expectations.

2- Dejan Lovren

Another man who has struggled to impress the Anfield faithful yet. The Croatian defender has made key errors and has never looked confident at the heart of the defence. The former Southampton man has been rash in his tackles and never looks assured in a Liverpool defence which has struggled this season. The £20M man has recently been dropped as a result of his failure live up to his price tag.

3- Federico Fazio

The former Sevilla defender has struggled greatly to adapt to the English game as of yet. He was brought in for £8M in the summer and has looked error prone and has struggled with his discipline since moving to Spurs. He has received 2 yellow cards and 2 red cards in his 11 games for Spurs so far. Although as of recently he improved but still his early performances must make Spurs fans doubt his ability.

4- Ideye Brown

Nigerian striker Ideye Brown was brought in from Dynamo Kiev for £10M. He has really struggled to settle in at The Hawthorns and has only made 7 appearances scoring 1 goal in the League Cup. He is ‘The Baggies’ record signing and £10M is certainly a lot for a club like West Brom and he has been struggling to even make the squad and he will need to improve rapidly to prove his worth.

5- Emmanuel Rivière

The Frenchman was brought in for around £6M from Monaco in he was brought in to try and replace fellow compatriot Loic Remy but so far has been very underwhelming at St James Park scoring no Premier League goals in 8 appearances although he has scored 2 in the League Cup. So far Spaniard Ayoze Perzez has been ‘The Geordies’ main goal scoring threat and not Rivière.

So can any of these come good after poor start for their new clubs? Or will they all end up moving onto new clubs again in the summer or even January coming?
