Mikel Arteta feels Everton could not have asked for a more fitting game to clinch their first home win of the season than the Merseyside derby.[LNB] The Spanish midfielder has told the Reds they can expect buoyant opposition when they lock horns at Goodison Park on Sunday.[LNB]The Toffees head into the local encounter on the back of their first win of the season after halting Birmingham City's 18-match unbeaten home record.[LNB]And Arteta insists David Moyes' men are in bullish mood as the Red half of the city come to town.[LNB]"The win against Birmingham in our last game has given us confidence and we didn't want to go into the derby without a win," the former Rangers playmaker told The Daily Express.[LNB]"We are playing at home and we need our first victory at home this season, and can't choose a better time to do that against Liverpool."[LNB]Both Merseyside clubs have endured indifferent starts to the campaign, with Everton being marooned in the relegation zone until last time out, while Liverpool currently occupy third bottom in the table after their dismal recent form.[LNB]But Arteta believes this weekend's derby provides ample opportunity for either side to kick-start their season and the Everton man has called on his club to do just that.[LNB]The 28-year-old added: "Both clubs are really disappointed at where we are. But there's no other way to put it right than to try harder and make things better.[LNB]"We have a great chance to change a lot of things with one game, because of the derby and what it means."
