Are Liverpool looking to strengthen with this Porto winger?

As the transfer window draws closer the rumour mill gets bogged down with players from all over the world being linked with moves to Liverpool, Christian Atsu is no different .... Or is he?.

I heard this a month or so ago but I couldn't find any substance to warrant an article being written on him, this all seems to have changed in the last 24 hours as now alot of the tabloids seem to have jumped on this.

Ghana international winger Atsu - 21, who will be out of contract next summer, has told current club Porto that he does not intend to sign another deal with them and is looking to move on to greener pastures.

The Guardian is reporting that negotiations between Liverpool and Porto are in advanced talks and Liverpool are moving in on a deal that would see the 21-year-old sign for a bargain fee of around £3m.

The big question is though..... Who exactly is Christian Atsu?

Well the Ghanaian international is a quick, talented & erratic winger who was brought into the Porto first-team squad by the then manager André Villas-Boas.

Atsu has come a long way since joining Porto four years ago at the age of 17, he's become the latest in a long line of unpolished gems that Porto have scooped up over the past few years.

His rise to the public eye came with his displays for Ghana as they reached the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations in January, when he scored the most recent of his three international goals from 13 caps in a 3-0 group-stage win over Niger.
