Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa has paved the way for a move to Real Madrid after admitting he is flattered to be linked with the Spanish giants.
The 26-year-old right-back is reported to be wanted back at Madrid, where he came through the youth ranks before moving on to Deportivo La Coruna in 2006.
Arbeloa has spent two-and-a-half years at Anfield but is expected to slip down the pecking order should England right-back Glen Johnson complete an £18million move from Portsmouth.
And Arbeloa has now admitted he would be interested in heading back to Madrid as the latest part of recently returned president Florentino Perez's transfer jigsaw.
"It fills me with pride that Real Madrid would look at me," he said.
"I'm flattered. It's a great project with the return of Florentino.
"I would be lying if I said I was sure to start the season with Liverpool."
