Spain coach Luis Aragones hailed striker Fernando Torres after the Liverpool star's goal secured a 1-0 victory over Germany in the final of Euro 2008.
Torres' first-half goal proved decisive in Vienna and Aragones believes that there is more to come from the 24-year-old frontman.
He told UEFA's official website: "Fernando Torres is a great player for Liverpool and for Spain.
"He can do anything. He has such extraordinary speed and he knows how to dribble at pace. He is so young and could learn to do anything.
"He could be one of the best players in the world, no doubt."
Torres himself was already looking forward to trying to repeat Spain's success at the World Cup in South Africa in two years' time.
He added: "It is a dream come true, this was a great victory for the whole team and for the whole of Spain. But we still have to be ambitious as we have the World Cup to come.
"It has been a fantastic season for me, it was fantastic with Liverpool and now a fantastic end of the season for the national team. This is the first big trophy for me and I hope not the last."
