Fit-again midfielder Alberto Aquilani has been backed to be a major hit at Liverpool, according to club legend Kenny Dalglish.
The £20million summer signing has made two cameo appearances from the substitute's bench following his arrival from AS Roma.
An ankle injury has restricted his transition to life at Anfield but former manager Dalglish - now the club's head of youth development - has been impressed with what he has seen from the Italy international during training.
"To me he looks a very good footballer who has good vision and is capable of seeing a pass," he told LFC Weekly. "Because of our current injury situation it would have been easy to rush him back into action.
"But that wouldn't have been fair to the player and he could have ended up missing even more time. Instead he's had the rehabilitation he's needed and he should be a great acquisition."
Meanwhile, teenage defender Daniel Ayala has put pen to paper on a new contract which will keep him at Anfield until the summer of 2012.
