Andy Carroll could make Liverpool debut against Manchester United

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is hopeful of handing ?35million striker Andy Carroll his long-awaited debut against arch rivals Manchester United.[LNB]Carroll has yet to play for the Reds since joining from Newcastle on transfer deadline day in January.[LNB]The 22-year old England striker, whose last outing came in Newcastle's defeat at Tottenham on December 28, has been sidelined with a thigh injury.[LNB] Carroll singing: Dalglish is pleased with the ?35million striker's progress in training but is unsure whether he will play against Manchester United[LNB] [LNB]When asked about his options for Sunday's Anfield showdown, Dalglish said: 'We're hopeful most of them will be fit. We don't really know because it's Thursday morning - a wee bit away from the game.[LNB]'Obviously Martin Kelly won't play with a hamstring strain and Jonjo Shelvey won't be available either. Everybody else's fitness is more positive than that. Who we have and what we go with we won't know yet - and that includes Andy Carroll.[LNB]'Andy's training was always progressing but it hasn't progressed into a game yet.
