Aldo praises Reds resolve

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge believes that the media criticism of Liverpool's recent run of poor form has helped them turn their fortunes around. Rafael Benitez's side are now fourth in the Premier League and back in pole position for a place in next season's Champions League - a position that looked unlikely when they dropped to seventh back in December. "Maybe the players have realised how much they've enjoyed playing in the Champions League," said Aldridge. "It was a major threat that we weren't going to make it."So they've put themselves in a decent situation. It's a long way to go with Man City, Villa and Tottenham obviously, but the thought of them possibly not playing in it next year has hit a raw nerve."Even without Torres the lads aren't playing particularly well but are grinding results out, which they weren't doing early on in the season. The spirit looks an awful lot better now."People say about Rafa Benitez losing the dressing room, but the lads have come out and answered that question fervently. "They've galvanised around each other knowing that all the criticism in the media was upon them and they've regrouped and come out fighting." http://www.lfconline.com Follow @liverpool on Twitter     Become a fan of LFC Online on Facebook
