Agger boost for Reds

Daniel Agger made a successful comeback as Liverpool reserves beat their Manchester City counterparts on Tuesday night. The Danish international has yet to feature for the first team this season due to a back problem. Agger, who was forced to undergo surgery on the injury, played 68 minutes of the 2-0 win at the City of Manchester Stadium. The return of Agger will provide a boost for Reds boss Rafa Benitez as his side have struggled defensively so far this season. Reserve-team coach John McMahon was happy with the performance of Agger. "It was a good win for us and Daniel did really well and it was great to see him back," McMahon told the club's official website. "He was committed, he made some good challenges and he helped the young lads around him. He enjoyed himself and was pleased to be back."
