Agent denies Alonso rumours

Xabi Alonso has dismissed fresh rumours linking his client with Juventus, who came close to signing the Spain international last summer.

The 27-year-old eventually stayed put at Anfield and has enjoyed a fine campaign for the Reds, helping them challenge for a first league title in two decades.

That prompted renowned Italian agent Ernesto Bronzetti to say: "I will try and bring in Alonso for the Juventus central midfield.

"There was a long chase last summer for his signature, of course, so it is a road we know.

"Pairing him with Momo Sissoko would be a title-winning midfield. The problem is that it would be very hard and expensive to take such an important player away from Liverpool."

However, Alonso own representative, Ignacio Ibanez, responded by telling the Italian press: "I don't know anything about these reports.

"It is true that we negotiated his possible move to Juve last year, but we are talking about last summer. I have not spoken with the Juve directors since."
