A Look at Rumoured Liverpool target Barcelona starlet Sergi Canos

For the folks out there that follow reliable sources online the name Sergi Canos won’t be that new to you, for those who have just discovered the name via news site in the last few weeks, here a look at the Barcelona starlet who Brendan Rodgers is apparently scouting with a view to bringing him to Merseyside.

Born in February 1997, the 16-year-old ply’s his trade on the right wing, although he can also feature centrally as the main striker.

Because of his age he is only eligible for a youth contract in Spain and it is believed Brendan Rodgers wants to tempt him to move to Anfield to join the already impressive academy setup.

In terms of long term development, you would hope that he sees the task of nabbing a starting spot from the likes of Stewart Downing a slightly easier task than that of Alexis Sanchez & Christian Tello.

Fans would obviously have to wait a while before he made his debut in the senior squad and that the Academy setup would help him develop further, currently headed by Rodolfo Borrell (director of coaching) and Frank McParland (academy director).

Canos has already featured at U-16 level for Spain and was a prominent player in 2011's Reino de Leon youth tournament for Barcelona.

The video below may be slightly old as there isn't much footage available currently of the player but you can plainly see his skill on display and his slightly larger frame than the other players around him.

Hopefully it’s a prelude of things to come.
