Football.co.uk's countdown continues with a Liverpool summer signing hoping to establish himself in the Premier League.

Name: Daniel Wilson

Born: 27 December 1991 (Age 18)

International Honours: Scotland U21 (5 caps)

A product of Glagow Rangers youth academy, Wilson rose to prominence in just two short years at Ibrox.

A commanding central defender with an impressive aerial presence, the young Scotsman graduated from the reserve side to the senior team towards the end of the 2008-09 season after Walter Smith included him in a number of matchday squads.

His first-team debut was delayed until the following season when he played in a 3-1 League Cup win over Dundee in October.

Shortly after he became the youngest ever Rangers player to appear in the Champions League and then began establishing himself alongside veteran David Weir in the heart of the defence.

Wilson went on to make a total of 15 appearances last season, scoring once. He helped Rangers lift the SPL title and also won a number of personal accolades including the Scottish PFA Young Player of the Year award and Rangers Young Player of the Year.

His impressive form led to interest from a number of other clubs, with Liverpool ultimately clinching his signature for an initial £2 million, possibly rising to £5m.

Since moving to Anfield Wilson has made one senior appearance in a League Cup defeat to Northampton Town.

On the international stage Danny has been picked for Scotland at U17, U19 and U21 level, with a senior call-up looking a certainty in the near future.
