Football.co.uk's countdown continues with the focus on an English youngster hoping to make his mark on the Premier League.

Name: Jonjo Shelvey

Born: 27 February 1992 (Age 18)

International Honours: England U19 (3 caps, 3 goals)

After unsuccessful stints with the youth academies of both Arsenal and West Ham, Shelvey made the move to South East London to sign for Charlton Athletic.

A superb season for Charlton's under-18s in 2007-08, which saw him score 14 goals in 23 appearances from midfield, propelled him into the first-team picture.

The Romford-born youngster made his senior debut towards the end of the same season, coming on against Barnsley and becoming Charlton's youngest ever player in the process.

His goal against Norwich City in January of 2009 also made him the club's youngest ever scorer, beating a record previously held by Peter Reeves.

Shelvey's first league goal arrived in a 3-2 win over Southampton in April, just a couple of months after he signed his first professional deal.

A central midfielder with an eye for goal, Shelvey went on to establish himself in the Addicks first-team, making a total of 42 appearances before joining Liverpool for £1.7 million in April of this year.

The current captain on England under-19s, Jonjo made his Reds debut as a substitute in the shock Carling Cup defeat to Northampton Town last month.
