Lincoln City have released a club statement regarding their managerial vacancy, claiming that "two individuals have emerged as the most suitable candidates for the job".
Since John Schofield left the club earlier this month, several names have been linked with the Red Imps hot-seat.
A statement on the club's official website also claimed that the League Two side had: "carried out a number of interviews over the past week," and had been "delighted with the level of interest".
"Both men have an excellent pedigree and the skills and experience to take the club forward."
Ex-Aston Villa manager Brian Little and former Huddersfield boss Peter Jackson are believed to be in the frame for the post. Discussions are continuing and the next Sincil Bank boss should be announced next week.
