Morgan targets play-off spot

Paul Morgan believes Lincoln City can win a place in the play-offs after successfully breaking through the 40-point barrier.

The Red Imps captain helped his side move into the top seven with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Rochdale on Tuesday and believes the side have already exceeded expectations.

"It's no secret that virtually everyone thought we would struggle this season after all the problems we had in the summer," the defender told the Lincolnshire Echo.

"I even think the gaffer would have settled for third from bottom before a ball was kicked.

"But with the players we already had at the club, and the good players the gaffer brought in, we were always quietly confident we could do much better than that.

"The fact we are so far up the table and on 40 points already I think means a lot of the pressure is off us.

"I think the only pressure now is the pressure we put on ourselves to try and finish in the play-offs.

"There is a long way to go but I think we can now set our sights on trying to make the top seven.

"We're very strong at the back and once we start scoring - and I think that's only a matter of time - we'll get even better."
