McCombe wins boss' praise

Lincoln City manager Keith Alexander singled out Jamie McCombe for special praise as the Red Imps boosted their play-off hopes with a fine 2-0 victory against local rivals Scunthorpe United on Monday evening.

McCombe started his career with The Iron before moving to Sincil Bank just over one year ago.

"It was a good team performance. I thought we deserved the points," Alexander said.

"We were solid defensively and Jamie McCombe had a great game against his old club.

"We've been playing well in recent weeks. There were a few critics at the start of the season when we weren't winning home games, but the lads have come good.

"Now we're in a play-off position and we've got to stay there. One or two of the top sides have still to come here and we're looking forward to that."
