Lincoln City have been forced to put their proposed signing of Scunthorpe United defender Jamie McCombe on hold.
Red Imps boss Keith Alexander had been keen to sign the 21-year-old defender before the game against Boston United but Iron boss Brian Laws is digging his heels in over the transfer.
McCombe has agreed terms with Lincoln but their Nationwide Division Three rivals have now blocked the move.
Lincoln have been told they can have the player on loan until the end of the season, with a recall option after one month, but chairman Rob Bradley is not happy with that arrangement.
"This obviously was not acceptable to myself or the management," he told the club's official website.
