Lincoln City have strengthened their midfield hand with the loan signing of Luton Town's Peter Holmes.

The 26-year-old has failed to hold down a first-team place at the struggling Championship club this season and has signed a loan deal with the Imps until the end of the season.

Holmes - a product of the FA's School Of Excellence in the same year as England striker Michael Owen - spent two months on loan at Chesterfield earlier this season and made ten appearances for the Spireites.

The Bishop Auckland-born midfielder came through the ranks at Sheffield Wednesday before moving to Luton six years ago.
