Lincoln City chief executive Dave Roberts has confirmed the proceeds from the sale of Jeff Hughes will be made available to manager John Schofield.
Hughes, 22, has agreed a three-year contract with Championship side Crystal Palace after the two clubs settled on a fee believed to be around the £300,000 mark.
"While you don't like to lose your better players, it is recognition for the club and for Jeff Hughes of the progress being made" said Roberts.
"The money is there to be used by John Deehan and John Schofield as and when they need it."
