Lincoln City have failed in an attempt to sign Darlington striker Julian Joachim.
The Quakers are keen to receive a transfer fee for the 32-year-old, but Lincoln had hoped to snare the former Leicester City and Aston Villa forward without paying a fee.
Director of football John Deehan told the Lincolnshire Echo: "I was asked to advise on costings and I said that, because of his age, I couldn't see us spending money on the player.
"Maybe we could offer some money if we were to get promoted, but there's been no bid as far as I'm aware.
"The last I heard, a transfer fee had been requested by Darlington and I don't think we'd go down that avenue.
"So, at the moment, the deal has stalled."
