Iffy Onuora will take charge of the Lincoln City first team while Peter Jackson takes time off to undergo treatment for throat cancer.
Jackson is not expected to return to management until April but Onuora is keen to carry on communicating with the Red Imps boss.
He told the Lincolnshire Echo: "It's up to me and Grant (Brown) to keep everyone focused and make sure the season finishes on a high.
"There'll still be contact with Jacko. Being the kind of person he is, he'll want to stay involved. There'll almost be daily contact with him, his treatment allowing.
"But we've already spoken about it. He can't be there every day and be the eyes and ears on the training ground. That's where he's got to trust myself and Grant.
"The most important thing is for Peter to get better. That's over and above anything else. It puts football in the shade.
"He's given an awful lot of himself, physically and emotionally, to the club - that's clear to see. It's now time for him to concentrate on himself and his family."
