Lincoln City manager Chris Sutton could face disciplinary action from the Football Association after being sent off during his side's 1-1 draw with Cheltenham Town.
The former Norwich City and Blackburn Rovers striker was sent to the stands following a melee sparked by a 68th-minute challenge from Aaron Brown on Theo Lewis, which saw the Red Imps left-back dismissed.
However, Sutton has been backed by his chairman, Steff Wright, who said: "I'm 100 per cent behind the manager.
"Aaron Brown's sending-off, from where we were sat, seemed to be harsh and also influenced by the Cheltenham players.
"The referee will look back and think he could have handled the situation a bit better.
"There is never any excuse for things flying out of control but what we have is a very passionate and determined management team.
"That steel is what we need to see from the management team and, if we are to progress, from the team as well - although there is a fine balance."
