Lincoln City manager Peter Jackson confirmed on Thursday that he is battling against throat cancer.

He told the media of his condition as he introduced new assistant Iffy Onuora to the media.

Jackson said: "I will be going in for a series of radiation treatment in March so it was important that I brought someone in who I can trust.

"There's no one better than Iffy Onuora and I'm delighted he's come at what will be a difficult time for me.

"The most important thing for Peter Jackson now is his health and in two weeks' time, football will take a back seat.

"It won't be enjoyable and the side effects won't be pleasant but I'm big and strong, I have a wonderful job and I've something good here to come back to.

"When I come back I'll come back fit and strong and I'll take this club forward."

The former Huddersfield Town boss has helped the Red Imps pull away from the drop zone after winning their last four League Two games.
