Burch: Imps youth system is vital
As many as 800 players are reported to be out of contract this summer as chairmen, chief executives and managers try to adapt to putting squads together on smaller budgets. Many are expected to turn their attentions to youth team players as a result, something Lincoln boss Peter Jackson has already done in blooding Nathan Adams, Andrew Hutchinson and Luca Coleman-Carr. And Burch believes that Jackson's willingness to invest in younger players will give his club the edge when the new League Two season comes around. "I think it will give us a head start," he said. "We have the likes of Hutch, Adams and Luca and it shows what a good youth system we have. A lot of people will cotton on to needing to have young players in this current climate and we're already there. "The club is reaping the rewards for their youth system. There's a lot of good, young players here who all get on well. We hope we can keep a hold of them and that they can major part. It's exciting for us."
