Torres shoots Imps to Shots win

03 October 2009 19:10
Torres was put clear by Richard Butcher with seven minutes left and calmly placed a low shot in to the bottom corner to end the club's run of four straight defeats. City produced a spirited performance but had a lucky escape early on when Louis Soares drove clear only for Adam Watts to clear off the line. The loose ball fell to Marvin Morgan but he missed the target. Lincoln pressed forward throughout the second half with Shane Clarke and new skipper Stefan Oakes both going close. Then an excellent cross from Cian Hughton found the head of Butcher only for Aldershot keeper Mikhael Jaimez-Ruiz to bring off an excellent save. Lincoln were forced to hang on in the closing minutes with Soares firing over from six yards while Morgan missed a glorious chance to snatch a point for Shots in injury time.
