Tilson urges McCallum to push on

Lincoln boss Steve Tilson hopes Gavin McCallum's wonder goal against Wycombe will give him the confidence to go on and provide the inspiration to help the Imps move away from the bottom of the table. The Canadian scored a superb opener against the Chairboys on Saturday, playing a one-two with Ashley Grimes before smashing a volley from the edge of the box into the net. Although Lincoln suffered a 2-1 defeat, Tilson hopes the goal will provide the spark for the Imps' number nine to finally go on to live up to the hype following his move from Hereford in the summer. "It was a good move and a fantastic strike," Tilson told the Lincolnshire Echo. "It was very disappointing we couldn't go on from there to win the game. "But hopefully that goal will give Gavin the confidence to go on now and put in performances for us. "You could see after he had scored the goal that his confidence had grown. He looked bright and positive which is what we are looking for him to be on the pitch."
