Tilson praises Imps application

New Lincoln boss Steve Tilson was impressed with his side's effort after his first game at the helm against Stockport finished goalless. In a game of few chances, Ben Hutchinson came closest to opening the scoring for the Imps but Stockport keeper Matt Glennon saved well from point blank range. Glennon's opposite number Joe Anyon thwarted County's George Donnelly in injury time to ensure honours finished even. "I couldn't fault the lads for effort," said Tilson. "Right through training this week they have worked at a really good tempo and they took that onto the pitch. "If Ben Hutchinson had scored early doors it might have been a different game but I'm not too disappointed because I thought the lads worked really hard. I thought they gave everything. "It was nice to keep a clean sheet but we need to score goals. It would have been good to get three points but it was important not to get beaten."
