Steve Tilson insists the ambition of the Lincoln board was one of the main reasons he took the managerial job at Sincil Bank. Former Southend boss Tilson officially took charge at the start of this week after signing a two-and-a-half year deal to succeed Chris Sutton on Friday. At his unveiling on Monday afternoon, Tilson said: "I've been out of football since May so it was important to get back in. "Having spoken to the chairman and the board, they're genuine people and they have ambition which was a big plus in taking the job." Tilson, who spent seven seasons at Southend before being relieved of his duties and placed on gardening leave in the summer, believes he can repeat the successive promotions he enjoyed during his time at the Essex club. He added: "I'm a positive person. It's a similar situation to when I took over at Southend and it might take a bit of time and we've got a bit to sort out, but given time I'm sure we can get Lincoln back up into League One and eventually the Championship."
