The 36-year-old was appointed as Peter Jackson's successor on Monday bringing former Blackburn team-mate Ian Pearce, who has also signed a playing contract, to Sincil Bank as his assistant. Both men will officially begin their roles on Wednesday as Simon Clark continues in a temporary capacity for City's home game against Notts County. The Lincoln board admitted to taking a 'calculated gamble' with the former Norwich, Blackburn, Chelsea and Celtic striker, but he feels he is ready to show what he can do. "It's a big challenge and I have a point to prove, but I'm pleased to be here and pleased to be given the opportunity to move the club forward, and that's what I want to do," said Sutton. "I've been watching some top managers work and I think I'm well prepared. "I spent time at Fulham and Aston Villa and I feel I've learnt a lot. There will be no shortcuts, just plenty of hard work, and hopefully I can give the players the confidence and belief to win football matches quickly."
