Sutton hails experienced duo

Manager Chris Sutton has paid tribute to veterans Ian Pearce and Jamie Clapham after Lincoln gained their first win of the season. Following league defeats to Rotherham and Torquay and a Carling Cup thrashing at Leeds, the Imps finally broke their duck at Gillingham on Saturday. Sutton said: "We are asking a hell of a lot of Ian Pearce to play, but I thought he was absolutely fantastic because of the way he organises. "Jamie Clapham also did well in just settling us down. Looking at it objectively that is what we have missed. "When it is all a bit frenetic, you need players who have the effort and determination and there is no question that we do have those. "But, crucially, you also need players who can steady and slow the game down. On that score, they were both exceptional and led from the front."
