Stanley sink 10-man Imps

Accrington maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a comfortable 3-0 win over 10-man Lincoln. The Reds moved into the play-off spots after a Sean McConville opener and a Terry Gornell sunk the Imps. Midfielder McConville got on the end of Gornell's pass after 16 minutes and blasted the ball low into the net past the stranded Joe Anyon. The Imps keeper stood no chance with the second three minutes later when former Tranmere man Gornell volleyed the ball home from McConville's free-kick. Reds keeper Ian Dunbavin had to then make decent saves from Mustapha Carayol and Albert Jarrett but Stanley were always in charge. It was no surprise when number three came after 60 minutes when Jimmy Ryan charged into the Imps half and played in Gornell on the left who fired home his second from a tight angle. Lincoln's Ben Hutchinson missed a clear goal with a header from two yards out but the visitors` hopes disappeared when substitute Scott Kerr flew into a tackle on Stanley's Chris Turner and saw red in a game which had several flashpoints.
