Lindsey not in the hunt for Imps job

Scott Lindsey ruled himself out of the running for the Lincoln job after his first game as caretaker manager ended in defeat. Barry Corr scored the only goal of the game as Southend beat the Imps at Roots Hall in City's first game since Chris Sutton resigned. Lindsey was encouraged with his side's display but revealed he was not ready to succeed Sutton on a permanent basis. "I was quite pleased with the performance the players put in for me," he said. "We are not far short of being a good team. We had the lion's share of the chances, particularly in the second half." On the possibility of staying on as manager, he added: "I'm the first-team coach and that's what I am. I'm very new to that too and have only been a coach for a year. "I'm not manager material yet, although that's something I may look to in the future. I will work with the new manager when he comes in and learn from him."
