L2 Relegation Rivals 72 Hour Easter Hell

22 April 2011 11:10
The next 72 hours will be edge of the seats stuff at the foot of Npower League 2   The all but last tango in Npower League 2 is split across three days of not so glamorous gladiatorial duels in front of just the dwindling diehards. Today, Saturday and Monday will see Barnet, Burton, Northampton, Bradford, Lincoln, Macclesfield, Hereford or Cheltenham all but drop through the trapdoor. Its an exciting 72 hours with 5 games today, 7 tomorrow and a full complement on Monday whether all the eggs have been cracked or not. The next 72 hours will be edge of the seats stuff at the foot of the football league. Will someone please get some oil for that creaking trapdoor, lets not be quite so keen thank you Drewe Broughton.    The Imps are at Bury and will then play Cheltenham in a massive Monday 6 pointer after the Robins have played Macclesfield today.  Miracle worker Simmo and his Silkmen are nearly there for another season and host Southend on the Bank Holiday.   Bradford managed just a draw against Burton on Tuesday and will not fancy Accrington away tomorrow,  followed by a must win home match against Aldershot on Monday with Jacko and the Bantems chances running out faster than the love affair is turning sour. Hereford host the Shrews tomorrow but have a decent chance at Morecambe on Monday where their form against fellow lowly foe suggests they will finish the job.   Last but not least  we have the trio who are up to their necks in it, Burton, Barnet and Northampton.  The Cobblers are at home to the Millers today and away at all but doomed Stockport on Monday. Third from bottom and in freefall can the Cobblers put the Wellington boot on the other foot,  at what will undoubtedly be their season’s Waterloo?   Barnet are still in the bottom two and will not fancy a second successive mission impossible at the Gills tomorrow, before hosting Oxford a game you would fancy them to win. As for Burton, a trip to Aldershot and a home against Torquay suggest the bottom three could all be in it come next weekend and perhaps even the final  match day on 7th of May.   Exciting next 72 hours then in the greatest League in the world bar three.      Friday, 22 April 2011   Bury v Lincoln City, 15:00 Crewe v Morecambe, 15:00 Southend v Stevenage, 15:00 Torquay v Wycombe, 15:00 Northampton v Rotherham, 19:45   Saturday, 23 April 2011   Hereford v Shrewsbury, 13:00 Accrington Stanley v Bradford, 15:00 Aldershot v Burton Albion, 15:00 Cheltenham v Macclesfield, 15:00 Gillingham v Barnet, 15:00 Oxford Utd v Chesterfield, 15:00 Port Vale v Stockport, 15:00   Monday, 25 April 2011   Barnet v Oxford Utd, 15:00 Bradford v Aldershot, 15:00 Burton Albion v Torquay, 15:00 Chesterfield v Bury, 15:00 Lincoln City v Cheltenham, 15:00 Macclesfield v Southend, 15:00 Morecambe v Hereford, 15:00 Rotherham v Gillingham, 15:00 Shrewsbury v Accrington Stanley, 15:00 Stevenage v Port Vale, 15:00 Stockport v Northampton, 15:00 Wycombe v Crewe, 15:00    HomeAwayOverall  PosTeamPlWDLFAWDLFAWDLFAPtsEP 1 Chesterfield 42 15 3 3 54 27 8 9 4 26 20 23 12 7 80 47 81 +33 2 Bury 42 10 6 5 33 20 11 5 5 41 22 21 11 10 74 42 74 +32 3 Wycombe Wanderers 42 10 6 5 33 24 9 7 5 28 24 19 13 10 61 48 70 +13   4 Shrewsbury Town 42 10 8 3 33 18 9 4 8 33 31 19 12 11 66 49 69 +17 5 Torquay United 42 10 6 5 36 22 7 9 5 34 25 17 15 10 70 47 66 +23 6 Stevenage 42 8 10 3 33 21 9 4 8 25 18 17 14 11 58 39 65 +19 7 Gillingham 42 10 7 4 25 16 6 10 5 36 30 16 17 9 61 46 65 +15   8 Accrington Stanley 42 13 5 3 47 23 3 12 6 19 30 16 17 9 66 53 65 +13 9 Port Vale 42 10 7 4 24 18 6 7 8 22 25 16 14 12 46 43 62 +3 10 Rotherham United 42 9 8 4 38 24 7 5 9 30 30 16 13 13 68 54 61 +14 11 Oxford United 42 10 3 8 30 24 6 7 8 24 30 16 10 16 54 54 58 0 12 Aldershot Town 42 8 7 6 23 22 5 11 5 24 26 13 18 11 47 48 57 -1 13 Crewe Alexandra 42 11 6 4 45 17 4 5 12 33 44 15 11 16 78 61 56 +17 14 Southend United 42 9 6 6 35 27 6 5 10 24 25 15 11 16 59 52 56 +7 15 Morecambe 42 6 7 8 24 28 7 4 10 25 33 13 11 18 49 61 50 -12 16 Hereford United 42 4 10 7 22 27 8 4 9 25 34 12 14 16 47 61 50 -14 17 Bradford City 42 9 3 9 24 24 5 3 13 15 34 14 6 22 39 58 48 -19 18 Cheltenham Town 42 6 6 9 24 30 6 6 9 29 44 12 12 18 53 74 48 -21 19 Macclesfield Town 42 6 5 10 24 35 6 6 9 29 35 12 11 19 53 70 47 -17 20 Lincoln City 42 7 4 10 18 36 6 4 11 26 37 13 8 21 44 73 47 -29 21 Burton Albion 42 9 6 6 32 27 2 6 13 17 37 11 12 19 49 64 45 -15 22 Northampton Town 42 7 8 6 36 31 2 9 10 19 35 9 17 16 55 66 44 -11   23 Barnet 42 7 4 10 27 33 3 7 11 23 37 10 11 21 50 70 41 -20 24 Stockport County 42 4 10 7 28 48 4 2 15 15 42 8 12 22 43 90 36 -47
